Umhlanga Rocks

I live in Umhlanga and it must be one of the nicest places to holiday, especially from May to July, when the weather is at is most beautiful. Warm sunny days and cool evenings, magical sunsets, lots of good winds for the surfers and the beautiful beaches are nice and quiet. We have it all.

July is Aloe season and they are very much part of our lives.

Umdloti further North is also very special.

KNYSNA fabric range - Boats of Kynsna.

Knysna is my very favourite place to be when the sun sets.  Leisure Isle has a beautiful dog friendly park overlooking the lagoon and the birds come settle before going off for the night. Every evening presents everchanging hues and tones in the sky.

These images are all available as prints - you will need to email me your size and shape requirements .

New protea cushion cover

Below is one of my newly launched protea range . It's very busy and vibrant and will brighten up your home. R390 for the cover, 100% cotton. 50 x 50 cm.

Here are my more minimilistic and traditional protea ranges.

Rural Life SA

I would NEVER have gone into a rural village a few years ago, and was convinced that I wouldn't come out again. I'm ashamed to admit it but it is true. I am delighted to say it is my new favourite thing to do. And the more rural, the more orderly and safe it feels. Children playing soccer, building swings from trees, mothers hanging up washing, vegetable gardens . I hope we dont lose this traditonal culture in South Africa.

PS I am very respectful about taking photos and once I show everyone my work, they love it.

My aim here is to bring the authenticity of life in South Africa and I do acknowledge the poverty and hardships that rural people face.

Hermanus

The cliff walk from one end of Hermanus to the other must be the best way to get exercise in the world. Astonishingly beautiful .  Hermanus to me is a place you need to stay a while to fully appreciate what it has to offer. Its not just beautiful scenery, but has something for everyone and I haven't even mentioned it's main attraction... whale watching.

Hshlulwe Umfolozi

I LOVE driving 3 hours and feel like I'm really getting away from city life as you drive into Umfolozi Game Reserve. Before I've reached the camp I have usually spotted an incredible amount of game and birds.
The surrounding area is  beautiful and still relatively rural area. Harder and harder to find!

 A traditional road side store.
Be sure to stop for a Queen Pineapple!

Huts in Northern KZN are different to those found elsewhere, with more straw/thatch rooves.

Kirstenbosch

No matter what time of the year, there is always something beautiful growing in the gardens of Kirstenbosch.  I found myself there on a wind free warm Autumn morning with the proteas starting to bloom.

Kirstenbosch Canopy with Table Mountain in the background. Kirstenbosch cushion.
Drive up Signal Hill for an uninterrupted view of Table Mountain . Pack a picnic and watch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean with Robben Island straight ahead.

Kenton On Sea

If you've been there, then you may agree with me that it may well be the best kept secret in South Africa, bordered by those two big beautiful Cape tidal  rivers full of fish, the lazy afternoon walks along Bushmens river to Shelly Beach  - usually after a lunch of fish and chips and mealies.

I have a large range of Kenton-on-Sea cards, cushions and pouches. Below is my "Shelley Beach" (or Bay) pouch.

And some cards or prints of my favourite parts of Kenton.

At the Bushmens River Mouth you will see plenty of Oyster Catchers hopping about the rocks.
